Graphing- Day 7 Author: Randi Longmeyer and Ann O’Malley
NE Standards: 4.1.3
Students will be describe and apply relationships between numbers by order,
comparison, and across the operation, such as subtraction as the opposite of
addition and multiplication as repeated addition. 4.5.1
Students will collect, organize, represent, and interpret numerical and
categorical data and clearly communicate the findings. Objectives:
split
the girls into groups, have the student’s decide what type of graph to make
and the topic of the graph. After having approved the topic of graph the
students will walk around the room and ask others in the class questions to
complete their graph. After getting all the data, put all the information into
the graph of their choice. Provision for special needs: discuss the rules again, make sure everyone is
involved in the group decision making and graph making, even the girls that
would rather do something else Materials: markers/crayons,
big pieces of paper to make our graphs on Procedures:
Springboard: Teacher: We
will explain the directions thoroughly and help the students come up with ideas
that haven’t already been used in the classroom. We will answer any questions
and help students if they don’t understand Student: Each group will decide on what type of graph they
will make and the topic of their graph. After the students agree on this they
will ask other groups questions to create data for their graph. After receiving
the needed information the girls will make their graph. When completed the
groups will explain to the rest of the class what their graph was about. Closure: We
will hang every groups graph and answer and last minute questions.
