Graphing- Day 5 Author: Randi Longmeyer and Ann O’Malley
NE Standards: 4.1.3 Students will be describe and apply relationships between numbers by order, comparison, and across the operation, such as subtraction as the opposite of addition and multiplication as repeated addition. 4.5.1
Students will collect, organize, represent, and interpret numerical and
categorical data and clearly communicate the findings. Objectives: make
a bar graph with information based on weather predictions in certain cities of
the United States to compare weather around the nation Provision for special needs: explain the directions very clearly and let every
student get the chance to answer questions Materials: markers,
graph paper, and information on pre-selected cities Procedures:
Springboard: Teacher:
We will explain to the students the agenda for the
lesson. We will have students locate the cities on the map. We will then let the
students complete the project with our guidance. We will compare the line graph
to a map of the United States to correlate the weather in each city. Student: Each girl will put effort towards completing the
bar graph, with the directions that are given at the beginning of the class and
by asking questions Closure: After
the graph is complete we will compare the graph to the map of the United States.
We will hang the line graph up and answer and last minute questions.
